Tharpu Chuli (5663m) also known as the Tent Peak lies at the center of Annapurna Sanctuary. This peak is the perfect gateway for those who are reluctant to high peak but yet want to summit a Himalayan Peak. From the top of the peak, you can see the magnificent view of the entire Annapurna Sanctuary, glaciers, and moraines bound by some of the highest peaks on earth.
The trek to Tharpu Chuli / Tent Peak Climbing is technically easy but challenging as well. And the best thing about this is that you can get the best views of the mountains in the Annapurna range. The journey starts from the foothills of Annapurna after a sightseeing tour of UNESCO-listed world heritage sites in Kathmandu. Also, the drive to Pokhara along the Trishuli river is beautiful too. Driving further 25 km from Pokhara towards Nyapul which is the main starting point of the trek.
Hike up to the vibrant village of Ghandruk and pass Chomrong and Dovan to Macchapucchre Base Camp. Then you acclimatize at Annapurna Base Camp so it will be easy for the further journey. Leaving the Annapurna Base Camp our journey continues for the Tent base camp. Climbing to the top of Tharpu Chuli will give you chills but together with that comes thrill. The thrill of excitement. There you can behold the splendor of mountains in your mind forever. Then you retrace your journey back to Pokhara after the unforgettable journey.
Moreover, the Tharpu Chuli is easier to climb than other peaks like Hiunchuli and Singu child. Not only has it shown you the most beautiful views of the Annapurna range but also the insights of Annapurna Sanctuary. Most of all, the view of the Himalayas from Tharpu Chuli is enchanting. In the morning, your guide will pick you up at the hotel and escort you to the UNESCO-listed sites in Kathmandu. The unique art, culture, and architecture of Nepal are reflected in the statues, monuments, and wooden crafts of Kathmandu Durbar Square. Visit Swayambhunath and the most auspicious hub of Hindu pilgrims – Pashupatinath is next on the charts. In the end, we visit Boudhanath stupa. Overnight at a hotel in Kathmandu.
Your guide will escort you to the bus station. We take a tourist bus along the Trishuli river to Pokhara. The countryside scenery, lush environment, and the endlessly flowing river are fascinating. As you arrive in Pokhara, check in to the hotel. In the evening you can stroll around the streets of Pokhara or the lakeside of your own will. Overnight at a hotel in Kathmandu.
After an hour drive, we reach a village near Pokhara – Nayapul, which is the starting point of our trek. We continue walking along the lush farmlands to Birethanti. Then we walk uphill, passing villages like Syauli bazaar, Chimrong, Chane, and a suspension bridge over Khumbu Khola to Ghandruk. The trail along Gandruk is rejoiceful full of lush scenery and mountain views. Gandruk is a popular Gurung village best known for its awesome views and warm hearted, friendly people. Leaving Ghandruk, we ascend up for some time and descend down steep to Kimron Khola. From the river, we ascend up on an easy trail. We further climb steeply until we reach Chomrong. We can get views of mountains like Machhapuchhre and Annapurna South Overnight at a guesthouse in Chomrong.
Leaving Chomrong, we walk along the Modi Khola and cross a suspension bridge. We then ascend up to Sinuwa Danda and pass dense rhododendron forest to reach Khuldighar. From Khulgighar, we descend down steeply along the stone stairs and pass bamboo and rhododendron forests. Finally, we reach the village of Dovan. Overnight at a guesthouse in Dovan.
Today we cross bridges over two streams and walk through a wilder landscape. If lucky, we may encounter wildlife like deer, snow leopards, etc. We climb up to Hinko Cave and then to Deorali. We continue our trail until we reach Macchapucchhre Base Camp. The views of mountains from MBC are spectacular. Overnight at a guesthouse in Macchapucchhre Base Camp.
Today, we walk forward to Annapurna Base Camp. As we enter the Sanctuary, our path widens and follows a stream. We then climb up to the huts alongside a moraine. There dynamic view of 360 degree panorama looks sensational. We will be blessed with the views of mountains like Annapurna I, II, IV, Annapurna south, Hiuchuli, etc. Overnight at Annapurna Base Camp.
A free day in Annapurna Base Camp to acclimatize yourself with altitude gain. You can stroll around admiring the views of 360 degree panorama or learn the techniques of peak climbing from the guide. We prepare our gears like ice axe, climbing boot, harness, etc. and built up our confidence for peak climbing. Overnight at Annapurna Base Camp.
Today, we cross the glaciated mountain passes and descend to Annapurna South Glacier. We follow a trail across the surface on the ice and climb up the moraine on the opposite side of the glacier. The views of the mountains peaks in Annapurna region from here is phenomenon. Overnight at a tented camp in Tent Peak Base Camp.
We ascend up steep to the Tent Peak High Camp enjoying the panoramic views of Hiunchuli (6441m), Annapurna South (7229m), Annapurna I (8091m), Macchapucchre Himal and many other snow-clad mountains. Overnight at a tented camp in Tent Peak High Camp.
Today is the biggest day of our journey as we attempt a climb to Tent Peak. We start our climbing before dawn and cross the short glacier to reach the base of several snow flutings. We use axes and ropes to climb the final summit ridge. After reaching to the heights of 5663m, at Tent peak, we descend down to Tent Peak High Camp.
We retrace our journey back and descend down to Annapurna Base Camp via glacier and Tent Peak Base Camp. Overnight at Annapurna Base Camp.
Early in the early morning, we wake up to relish the glory of sunrise over the towering mountains. Then we continue descending down until we reach Bamboo. We pass Machhapucchre Base Camp, Deurali and Doban to reach Bamboo. Overnight at a guesthouse in Bamboo.
Leaving Bamboo, we make a steep ascend to Sinuwa via Kuldighar. We follow the stone paved stairs and climb up the stairs to Chomrong. From Chomrong, we descend down to Jhinu Danda. There are natural hot springs at Jhinu Danda, therefore, you can enjoy hot water bath here. Overnight at a guesthouse in Jhinu Danda.
From Jhinu danda, we descend down and pass several villages to Australian Base Camp. Overnight at a guesthouse in Australian Camp.
We retrace our journey back to where we had started. We return back to Nayapul from where we take a ride to Pokhara. Enjoy your evening at a hotel in Pokhara.
Today, we head towards Kathmandu along the scenic route of Trishuli river. Check in to the hotel upon your arrival. Overnight at a hotel in Kathmandu.
A leisure day in Kathmandu! You can spend the day on your own will. Stroll around the streets of Kathmandu or go to the malls around for shopping. Overnight at a hotel in Kathmandu.
