Old Kingdom of Mustang Trek is a classic adventure full of natural and cultural wonders! This mystic land lies on the highest and largest extension of the Tibetan plateau. As you fly from Kathmandu to Jomsom via Pokhara airport, you take a trail up to upper Mustang through an arid landscape which was the ancient trading route between Nepal and Tibet. Therefore, you can find a strong influence of Tibetan culture and lifestyle in this area. When you walk forward through the trail, you will notice variation in the environment that turns dry from lush. As you move higher, the trees will grow thinner and thinner. The thick forests will be replaced by few juniper trees and bushes.

As you talk through the trail and learn about the culture and practices, you will feel like you have traveled back to time. You will find king and queen who still exist in a fort like walled town. Above all the culture, practices, tradition, everything about this place is phenomenon.
On the way, you will pass through villages where house are paint in white which resembles the Tibetan villages. The small houses colour in white looks quite attractive. Meanwhile the people residing in this area live a simple life and are engage in agriculture and animal husbandry. Similarly, they grow crops and vegetables like potato, cabbage, carrots, spinach, buck wheat, barley which are the main staple diet of the people living in Mustang.
Your trekking journey starts from Jomsom to Kagbeni. You pass villages like Chele, Chuslang, Syanbochen, Gemi and Tsarang to Lo Manthang. From Lo Manthang, we take a trail to a popular spiritual hub in Annapurna region – Muktinath. On the other hand the view of Himalayan panorama from this place is spectacular. Leaving Muktinath we retrace our journey back to Jomsom.
Moreover Nagarkot visit is a bonus part of this journey. After flying back to Kathmandu from Jomsom via Pokhara, you will be taken to Nagarkot via a short drive. And the view of mountains from Nagarkot is fabulous. Upon your arrival in Nagarkot, you can let your eyes wander around the peak that surrounds you one after the other; Nagarkot being a popular vantage point near Kathmandu for mountain views.
